Let's make a fanfic! Thread 3

Okay, the rules of this game are simple. In as many chapters as possible, we are to make a huge fanfic relating to a single topic. If you don't want to make one relating to the topic, simply start your own thread. Being active on multiple threads is allowed. If you start your own, post this blurb on yours. Once a fic is started, you are expected to post at least three times. PM me for questions. Follow the forum rules. With that, here's what you need to know.

The subject is Portal. Our minimum number of pages of posts necessary to finish is three. One chapter per post maximum.No made-up characters, but crossovers from other valve games are allowed (GMan, etc.), as well as interpretations of other characters (Rat Man, etc.). The second person to post must begin the game. Due to Thread 2's double posting, this one will allow double posts, but people will not be able to post more than one chapter until after someone else has posted.

Chell Johnson watched as the wall before her burst into a brilliant orange color. A halo of orange surrounded a brand-new hole in the wall. She hopped through, and strode down a hall.

Suddenly, something changed. The floor began to disappear, except for a small platform where she was standing, which began to slide backwards, straight into a firepit. She was just about to hit the flames, when they began to swirl ominously, and then, a missile shot out of nowhere. She rolled to the side, just in time to avoid it, strangely onto real ground. Then, she heard a word that was almost a whisper, and definitely a death sentence.

NEUROTOXINS.

She quickly noted a timer on a nearby wall. 3... 2... 1... No! She couldn't die! She couldn't-

Chell Johnson woke up, doused in a cold sweat.

She rolled over, and checked the time. 4:26 AM. Well, she was already awake. She might as well get up. Coffee. Coffee would be nice.

Until a year ago, Chell had been a test subject at the ill-fated Aperture Laboratories. They had poured resources beyond measure into an artificial intelligence project called GLaDOS. That dream had lasted about five minutes. GLaDOS had almost immediately flooded the labs with neurotoxins, and killed every single scientist. A young test subject named Abby, or something like that, had risked life and limb to attach a morality core to GLaDOS, and GLaDOS stopped the neurotoxins before they could reach the test subjects, Chell among them, who were all in hibernation.

Chell had awoken a year ago, and had taken a huge test involving a device called a portal gun, which created interdimensional gateways that one could travel through. In the end, however, GLaDOS' morality core had fallen out, and she had tried to murder Chell. Chell had survived, and had somehow blown GLaDOS apart. Even so, she still had traumatizing nightmares about GLaDOS and the facility. Even a year after being destroyed, the cold, mechanized witch wouldn't leave her alone.

Chell pushed her long, brown hair out of her eyes, and began to walk down the hallway, clicking as she went. When she had been in hibernation, the scientists had grafted metal bracers to the back of her legs. Their purpose was so that she could fall long distances without sustaining damage in the testing facility, but now, in the real world, they were useless.
She made her way into the kitchen, and put a pot on to boil. She stepped into the other room, and, mainly out of habit, switched the TV on. The early morning news came on.

"-but Black Mesa employees refused to comment. And now, coming up after the break, what the late director of Aperture Laboratories has left in his will, and who he left it to."

Chell stopped, and immediately stood stock still. Aperture was still around? This, she had to hear.

"Well, the director of Aperture Science, Mr. Cave Johnson, has passed away, due to complications from mercury poisoning. However, he left two things in his will. He left his papers on his Counter-Heimlich maneuver and his Handheld Portal Device to his old friend, "The Rat". However, as of the present time, the identity of this Rat is unknown. Now, back to you, Jim, for the traffic report."

The coffee machine in the kitchen beeped, jolting her back into reality.

"Screw the coffee," she said to herself. "I'll have a vodka."

I read that, but I don't think it would be a very good idea to make another chapter for this.
